PADS Not Affected by Funding Cuts
A $2.4 million state funding cut that will trigger several layoffs will not affect the workers at Southwest Chicago PADS. The affected workers are the ones who transport homeless residents.
Dead woman’s problems began during her youth
We know where Cynthia Barnes’ troubles ended — on a sidewalk outside an apartment building at 59th and Kedzie, three floors below a window through which police say she was pushed. Where those problems began is a trickier matter, though there’s a pretty clear line that traces back to her childhood.
Long road awaits PADS riders
A group of local cyclists are preparing to travel a long way for a cause close to their hearts, and they are looking for a few good riders.
Supporters of the Southwest Chicago PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) plan to ride their bikes all the way from the Mississippi River to Marquette Park in an effort to raise funds for the PADS facility at 3121 W. 71st St. The 175-mile trip from Clinton, Iowa, will take two days over the weekend of June 26-27, organizers said.
2009: Turning From, Turning Toward
At PADS, we are turning away from our past—the beginnings with Sister Thérèse DelGenio’s vision and years of tireless service—and turning toward a future with new leadership and new challenges. We will continue to journey with our homeless guests as they turn away from addictions, hopelessness and fear and move toward self-determination, hope and sobriety.
2010: Knock Harder

Heartening to me is the can-do spirit of volunteers and friends of PADS that got us through this calamity.
